KALIM ARMSTRONG is a filmmaker drawn to stories of people living on the fringe of mainstream culture. His work as a director, producer, and cinematographer has taken him to the mountains of Norway documenting soldiers training for winter warfare, through the streets of New York City following bike messengers, as well as creating portraits of artists and people living off the grid in America. He is currently completing his MFA at Hunter College in the IMA / MFA program and directing his first feature documentary. He is a 2009 recipient of the prestigious Princess Grace Film Honraria and recived a grant from the Brooklyn Arts Council for The Pass it On Project in 2010. He is a workshop instructor at Downtown Community Television Center in New York City and has taught in the undergraduate Film & Media department at Hunter College.
